Basilica of Our Lady of Peace

Almost everyone knows the Saint Peter’s Basilica in Vatican, which is famous for being the residence of the Pope; however, unlike most people think, the Saint Peter’s Basilica is not the biggest christian catholic church in the world. The biggest christian catholic church in the world is the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace, located in the city of Yamoussoukro in my native country Ivory Coast.

The Basilica of Our Lady of Peace was built between 1986 and 1989 at a cost of over 300 million dollars. It was consecrated in 1990 by the pope Jean Paul II.

  1. This is amazing. I specially like the aerial pictures. I always thought you were from Mali, since everyone that I have met with the last name “Kata” have been from Mali. I hope this great place has not been damaged during the civil war.

    • That’s interesting. I have never met anybody who had the same last name as mine. I thought we were the only African family with this name. I saw other people named Kata on facebook, but they were Asians.
Fortunately, this place wasn’t damaged in the war; it’s still shining. Now that the country has become peaceful, I invite to visit this place. You won’t regret it.
